Myanmar has been a Party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) since February 27, 2005. The Control of Smoking and Consumption of Tobacco Product Law 2006 governs Myanmar's tobacco control policy. The National Tobacco Control Board, constituted under its law, considers proposals from the tobacco industry in setting or implementing related public health policies. Generally the tobacco industry is able to engage government through various partnerships and assistance. While an Anti-corruption Code of Ethics for Companies and Body Corporates exist, it applies generally to all companies within Myanmar and does not have specific guidelines in compliance with the WHO FCTC Article 5.3.
