Burkina Faso became a Party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control on October 29, 2006. The Minister of Trade and Industry, in his regalian role of coordinating national policy on trade and industrialization, sometimes interacts with the tobacco industry. This cannot be directly equated with a government partnership with the tobacco industry.
