Hungary has a robust legal framework for regulating tobacco products, yet enforcement and political will remain weak. Despite established laws, the country continues to face criticism for regulatory complacency and resistance to stricter tobacco control measures.

Public watchdogs have highlighted the tobacco industry’s presence in scientific networks, professional forums, and media engagements. However, industry involvement is less visible in formal public–private health collaborations, making oversight challenging.
