Pakistan has been a Party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) since February 27, 2005. Progress has been achieved in enforcing tobacco control measures, however tobacco industry interference has resulted to weakened policies. For example, tobacco industry lobbying to non-health departments against larger pictorial health warnings resulted in reduced sizes. Another significant challenge is tobacco industry-related CSR, which is currently not banned and is often used by the industry to partner with government agencies.
